Weeks 56&57 in France

Our 3 foot tall Christmas tree
This week's blog will be mercifully short after last time's 5 week ordeal.  The big news here is that Christmas season is upon us!  Janet set a new record for our household by putting up our Christmas decorations a week ago on November 10th.  Here are a few pictures:
Our one splurge from last Christmas.  Unlike the French, we already
put the babe in the manger!

Even our mostly empty cupboard got decorated this year.

This was a gift from Jody Jones
who's family moved back to the
U.S. a few months ago.

After Wayne assembled it and adjusted it
we lit some little candles, and it works!

What's funny about decorating for Christmas so early is that when we went to the Partly 2 Mall the next day, they had also already put up all their Christmas decorations:

This is the red carpet for people to line up to visit with Santa.

I've been asked to play the piano for the upcoming Primary Children's Christmas Program about the life of Jesus which they studied in the New Testament this year.  I love playing for the Primary because I feel the innocence and faith of the children as they sing.

We even managed to put up some non-Christmas decorations as we tried to cover the bare walls of our new apartment:

Our heart collection reminds us of our love for each other.

More hearts, lighted!

Today after church we decided to take a walk in the Versailles Chateau Park.  As is typical on Sunday's there were lots families, groups, bicyclists, and people.

Lots of sheep grazing in the adjacent field.

A group of cub scout-age boys playing dodgeball, which is still allowed in France, unlike in the U.S.

About a week ago, I took a wonderful bike ride with Elder Jeff Winston through some woods on the other side of the Versailles Park.  I took some pictures of the "Swiss Waters" on the south side of the Chateau.

Happy bikers

Another statue off the end of the Swiss Waters of a formerly famous person.

It has been wonderful to feel the spirit of our new temple presidency as they become familiar with the operation of the Paris Temple.  They have already made some "adjustments"to our procedures to help make things run even smoother.  We  love serving in the temple during the Christmas season.  It keeps us focused on our Savior Jesus Christ as the reason for the season.  With Thanksgiving coming up next week, we find ourselves with so many things to be thankful for, but we'll save that for the next blog.  Love, Wayne and Janet
